Campo Imperatore
Campo Imperatore is a plateau at about 2000 m altitude in the middle of the Gran Sasso of Italy. It stretches over 15 km long and 5 meters wide and is part of the National Park of Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga Campo Imperatore can be reached via a 100-seat cable car running from Fonte Cerreto (1150 m) and uses only 7 minutes to complete the journey. It is also home to a botanical garden and one of the most important astronomical observatories of ItaliaNel 1943, in the hotel at Campo Imperatore, Benito Mussolini was held prisoner until his release took place September 12, 1943 by German soldiers led by Captain of SS Otto Skorzeny (Operation Oak). Campo Imperatore is home to a ski resort with 3 lifts and includes 15 km of trails for downhill skiing and more than 60 km for Nordic skiing. It is the first station scistica born in Italy in the Apennines, and by far the oldest that still works today.

So many scenes in the movie is the life of Aldo, Giovanni and Giacomo were shot at Campo Imperatore, as well as some scenes of "... They still call Trinity" and commercials for famous car manufacturers. Source Vetica is the area to the east of Campo Imperatore, to 1632 m above sea level, infamous for a tragedy on October 13, 1919 when a snowstorm, arrived early on winter, killed 5,000 sheep, their Shepherd, Pupo Nunzio di Roio, and his two young children. Even today there is a monument and a plaque commemorating this shocking episode, by the sculptor Vicentino Michetti: Here October 13, 1919 Pastor Nunzio di Roio died with his sons caught in a blizzard. His wife, in a desperate attempt to bring them aid goes mad and dies from grief. The sculptor Vicentino Michetti left to the marble tragedy to honor all those who have died in these mountains.
